audio help
Is it possible to run an aftermarket amps subs and speakers off the stock head unit? i heard the is300s had a problem, where the sounds wouldnt work due to a weird voltage or something like that. is it true with the gs300s? looking to pick up sounds from a friend tomorrow.
Also are there any common problems people go through when installing sounds in the gs? I am really new to sounds to any help would be appreciated

You would have to bypass the factory amp. It is better to just get an aftermarket headunit... it creates a lot less headache. Also, make sure you look in the audio section, you'll find your answers there.

my setup right now is full fosgate rockford subs and amps with my OEM navi. No problem whatsoever...
i wouldnt know how to install it since i got sponsored on audio but i do know that they bypassed the factory amp. the only thing i have to say about the GS with audio is that if you run a box your space is sooooo limited.

Sounds to me like you better just bring the equipment your getting to a shop and have them do it.
You need a line out converter, if you look at the bottom of the factory subwoofer you can see (2) wires, you can tap into those using a line out converter, this will give you an RCA connection that sends the input signal to the new amp your getting. Keep in mind it's a 30-80hz signal so trying to use the same RCA's to power lets say 4 channel amp for mids and tweets wont work. You will also need to tap in to a +12v source that turns on when you turn the key, this is called the remote wire and is used to turn the amps on. Then your gonna have to run 4gauge or 1/0gauge power cable from battery under hood through firewall, under trim along doors, poke it through the corner of rear seat into the trunk.

Thanks for all the help sorry pretty new to this forum, i was looking for an audio section but i missed it somehow. i only saw the performance sub-section. thanks ill consider getting an aftermarket head unit. I saw some places that sell the double din kit that you need to fit the double din in, does anyone recommend a particular site or brand of that plastic piece.

your going to spend over a thousand dollars on good sounding tunes then go cheap and buy a line converter. there are many options but i would not do a line converter in my 15 years of car audio all those have done is **** me off with tone of problems engine noise and other problems there are units you can use. rockford fosgate has one so does jl audio and audio control all make great solutions for this problem.
