Yeah, I noticed that too. I also remember reading on Lexus's official website that they said datytime running lights were standard from 99' on. I thought that was just a typo because I had obviuosly had them on my car

Right that's what I was thinking. Maybe someone could post pics of a 98' GS with DRL's on and a 99+ with the DRL's on

a1exus, I didn't know that 98 GS offered DRL's, I never seen a 98 with DRL's atleast here in Hawaii. I'll try and ask my freind at Lexus and seen what's the difference between the 98 and up.

I dont think the 98's came with DRL. The dim lights you see are the parking lights......

I think the lights that a1exus is talking about is the DRL. I called my friend @ Lexus and he said it depends when the car was manufactured, if it was late 98, then it might have been built with the car.

The dim lights you mentioned was the small wedge bulbs, which only comes on when you turn on the headlight switch.
The DRL's come on when you release the hand brake and put the car in "D".

I have a 98' GS4 and I can turn on my DRL's with or without my headlights being on. They serve the same purpose as the 99+ GS DRL's which is to make your car more visible to other drivers in the daytime. It just appears that they made them brighter after 98'.

Guys, we've discussed DRLs over and over and over again.

Results from using the search function on "drls"

from my understanding is that DRL's were not available in 98 and first shipment of 99 ( mine is from the first shipment so I dont have DRL's) but they do have parking lights (which is the same thing as DRL's but you can turn them on and off at your own will).

now if you want your lights to be brighter I would suggest you go with the polarg M6's since they are pretty bright and they will look better with your HID's

Right bigge

98s - no "DRL"s per se, but we do have "wedge" bulbs that come on with one turn of the light stalk - with the parking lights - see my pic below.

I think 99s (maybe '00) and on use the high beams @ 50% for DRLs, so they will be yellow no matter what, and they are on all the time while driving.

If you've got a 98, and you want brighter wedge bulbs, yes, try the Polarg M6s.

Look for my post several months ago with a lot of install & final pics.
