Default level head lights

i own lexus gs400 '98.. came halogen and not HID
so assume i dont have auto leveing? is this for sure? or not?

i know when i was looking at my fog lights i found gears there so assume my fog lights has auto leveling some sort.. or maybe it's just for manual leveling with old school way (with a screwdriver)

can anyone fill me in here?

also i was wondering how can i check if my head lights aiming in right point, i got this 8K HID and i dont want to blind people

alex, def no autoleveling if no factory HIDs. same, of course, with the fogs (which don't auto-adjust in any case)

you're seeing good old fashioned screw type adjusters

one way that you could aim HIDs would be to turn your halogens on in the garage and mark the wall where the pattern cuts off, then install your HIDs and adjust your aim based on the wall marks.....probably won't be perfect, but it ought to serve as a starting point.........(that all assumes you don't move the car between the time you mark your beam cutoff and however long it takes to install the HIDs......... but i'm sure some of the guys who've done replacements have a better way till you can get them officially aimed

well.. between time when i took out my halogen and put my hid, lights doesn't move itself its only bulbs who gets changed.. so i'd assume they pointing exactly same place as they were before.. my question is what would be the right position to aimi them .. 'cause who knows maybe they do not point as they should at the first place.. car is 3 years old now.. ( alittle bit older then my linux's uptime )

... this is the BEST way... it just takes a level parking lot with building attached, a tape measure and some electrical tape.

1 find a level parking lot with a building on the same level. brick is best as the wall is very flat.
2 measure 25 feet from the building and park your car there pointing at the building with your headlights at the 25 foot mark
3 measure how high the center of your headlight is off the ground
4 now go measure from the bottom of the wall this same length and mark with a line of electrical tape(measure both ends of tape to be sure it is not slanted)
5 turn your headlights on and see where the beams fall.
6 adjust accordingly
7 you are now LEVEL
8 repeat with foglights!

tip you can take a friend along and have him hold a floor mat over one headlight so you can adjust for centering if you need to.
