Default Lights turn on when you unlock?

Is it possible to take our car to the dealership and have them program it so it can be like the newer cars, so that when you unlock the car the lights turn on? Has anyone tried this?

Try it... it should be possible, but I don't know if the dealer knows how to do it.

Do you mean the headlights, or interior lightning?

its just a simple wiring i guess. get a relay and hook it up to an interior lighting out to your headlights. its just like installing a sound system but little more complex.

hmm, well the headlights automatically turn off after a certain amount of time (i think a minute) after you leave the car and close all the doors.

i have my alarm programed to turn on the headlights with one of the options and the headlights turn on when i do auto start via the alarm (because i left them on w/ the auto shut off) when i left the car.

a pulse timer would do it, it would hook up in-line with the headlight postive. DEI makes one.

I am not going through with this idea. I called around and did some research, I was told that it is not good for the ballasts on HIDs to do that. I have three sets so I don't want to ruin the ballasts. Multiple people told me that even good HIDs would misfire a lot if I was to do this. So I decided to scratch this idea for my HIDs sake.

if your pulse timer was set to say 45 seconds or so, you should be fine. True enough multiple quick ignitions will harm the ignitor, but think about how many times the auto on feature kicks on our headlights when driving under a bridge or in/out of a parking garage etc. no harm done there.......

This headlight option is generally done to help illuminate the pathway to your car, or it works like a finder so you can spot your car at night. In that case, why don't you just hook it up to your 9005 highlights instead of the low beam HID lights? It would serve the same purpose but not damage or stress your HID ballast.

I have 5000k HIDs in my Low Beam, High Beam and Fog Lights. I like bright lights.

The difference is that he would be starting the engine with the ballast on fighting for power to ignite the HID bulbs. This added stress on the ballast will cause expedited wear in the long run.
