Default whining coming from steering?

It just started recently but it seems like there is a constant whining coming from the power steering pump after the car has been sitting for almost 3 weeks.

Anybody know what it might be?
Low fluid? bad pump?

I would check the ps fluid, and also check your ps pump for leaks

Try changing fluid if not low. Then see if sound is still present. Then you may try changing again to see if you can save the pump. Usually pump is going up if no low level.

The fluid level wasn't low. I started up the car and ran it for a few minutes and the noise was still there.

I drove it a few hours later and it seemed to be gone. Maybe it was an air bubble.

If you started the car and didn't cycle the wheel back and forth, lock to lock a few times it's not circulating the fluid enough to stop the whining.

Next time it does it, start the car and then turn your steering wheel back and forth and the sound will go away.

Cool, sounds good. I'll keep an ear out for it.
