Default pricing question????

ok guys, i am going through a move and some tough $$ times, so i am thinking about selling my car. its not a must sell but it would make life easier, can anyone tell me what a good starting price is for this?

99 gs300 pearl white in great shape, barely any nicks or marks on the car.
20 inch chrome rims with nitto's
xspower t61 turbo kit at 7 psi aem FI/C -8
stock fuel and gasket
leather seats and the works obviously
heres the kicker 195K miles.

im not posting it yet or anything, im just wondering what a good starting price would be or a good range.

That's tough because of a few factors. Although the turbo might be enticing to us on the forum, most others may want the car stock. The mileage is kind of high and will draw people away unless you adjust your price accordingly. If I were looking at purchasing your car I would offer you $6k without the wheels depending on maintenance records.

well i dont have the stock wheels, it has a clean and clear title, but 6.5 is way to low for me to consider this, im seeing people with the same car nonturbo and with stock rims go for 5-7K all the time. and to have a turbo put on this car is 1-2K in labor alone!

Do you have maintenance records? What other mods have you done to the car?

no i love the car and dont wanna sell it, but i didnt expect to have this bad of money problems, so i am thinking of down grading to like a old sc300 or something. i can pick one of those up for like 3K and just build it. the car is running great and is boosting very well. i am just thinking this might be the smart thing so i was wondering how much its worth.

and i dont have the records, they were not handed to me when i bought the car, and i take very good care of my cars, so since ive owned it its been babied.

naw, no need to part out the turbo, its just as expensive for the labor to turbo it as the turbo kit itself costs.

you will not see the money back for your turbo. Keep in mind, the car is 10 years old, and 195k miles. That's 4500 miles over the average mileage per year. The wheels yeah that can help sell them. The thing you need to know is that you really won't see money back on mods.

Honestly? I'd price it like this:

Trade in: lucky to see 4000.

Private party (non-lex enthusiast): 6000

Private Party (lexus enthusiast appreciates mods): 8000

Really working someone over: 9000.

Sad but true my man.

i know i wont see all the money back on mods, but i have seen people sell these cars easily for 5-7K stock with around the same mileage. so with upgrades i dont see how were talking under that at all. i would think 9-10K wouldnt be pushing it. i might list it on like craigslist and stuff for 10 to see if theres any interest.

Forreal man. If your a DIY guy then you better off taking the stuff off and parting it. You'll most likely get what you want out of it.
But def try craigs first

^^ vellela's definitely a DIY guy. He installed his whole turbo setup himself.

you would definitely make up the money by parting out. I'd say by selling your turbo setup for profit, sell the rims etc., you could probably see another 3-4k in parts alone. Add that to the 5 or 6k you'd see from the car, and there's your 8-10k that you were looking for. I'm just being honest with you man, and look from a buyer's perspective. Car's 10 years old, with 195k miles. That's astronomical (though it PROBABLY, and i say probably because not all do, has a bunch more miles left in it) for almost any car, it's just a fact of how vehicles act. Now had it been a diesel truck, well 195k would be acceptable on the lower end of the 9k spectrum. But it's just the way the market is bro. Seriously, take it to a dealership and see what they'll give you on trade in. My 4000 is being generous from a dealer who needs cars to make his lot look good.

Agreed...most of the mod money spent is made back through the part out process. 10 out of 10 times!!! NTM but myself personally would be hesitant on purchasing a car w/ an aftermkt turbo kit pre-installed, especially if I don't know you...

yea, thanks for the info guys, im gonna list it on craigslist and see if i get any interest, and if i cant get what i want for it ill probably just keep it, worst case if i end up forced to sell it ill part out alot of it first.

Thanks for the input!

To me, I wouldn't pay over $6K buy a car with 195K for sure. Sorry to say that, but that's how I feel.
