Hey all,
Today i was driving home from work in my car and as usual & i suddenly got stuck in traffic in the opposite lane, so i had to speed up to 120km/h or so and sweep across three lanes over a painted line area to get into my lane. As i did so i had sudden guilt and was worried about damaging my rims, getting stone chips etc!
It got me to thinking who here drives their cars daily, and how modified are they? My last car was an S13 Silvia, and it was a daily until i just modified it so far i couldnt drive it anymore. Moreso than the damage, i was worried about police and defect notices.
I sold that car and bought my 2GS to have something luxurious that i could roll around in while taking it easy & looking nice. However, being the perfectionist i am, it now has 19s, stretched tyres, a nice drop on coilovers and a few other bits and pieces and i want more. My next ideal mod would be a kit, but then i think i'll just about be too worried to drive it!
So i thought id make this topic to see who here has modified GSs and manages to daily them! I noticed a lot of the cars both in the S13 scene and here that i really like and inspire me are pretty much weekend warriors. I sortof feel silly doing that cause you put all this time and effort into this car and then you spend 90% of your driving time on public transport or in some beater!
Post your input, just be nice to hear thoughts!

Definitely daily driven. My ride is not too extreme when compared to others on CL but it is dropped and I do have 19's.
I don't worry about much when I drive. I am a high millage recreational driver so enjoying my journey is important enough to me that I will not settle for a beater. I also drive to and from work but that is a relatively short trip when compared to my weekend drives and mini vacations.
I do pay the price in rock chips. I caught a good size rock to the hood some months ago which left me a nice dent in need of repair. But like i said - the enjoyment justifies the dangers IMO.

of course, why not. it's a car, meant to be driven. in fact i mod all my cars and they are all daily driven
Lexus Champion
Dropped to 1 finger gap with 19s, 245 front 275 rear... cross country and "runs" highway with it.
with 18s in winter in Vancouver without snow, stretched tires, "runs" on twisties with it...
17 inch with snow tires, cross country also with it and snow drifting it also.
not much mods, coilovers, rims, brake pads and rotors, intake, that's about it for running gear...

Driven everyday. Trips to Dallas and back. The last time I went to Dallas, I actually had a transmission in the trunk; along with my sub. 4 people in the car also. A bunch of shopping bags (went with 3 girls).

i try not to daily my GS, usually take it out on weekends. My GS isn't even as modded as most GS's on here, but i try to keep the milage low
don't know why but when i use it like 3-4days in a row i feel sorry for it haha
I usually catch the Bus to Uni/work cos theres too much traffic and takes too long. I think its better that way because then you can really enjoy it on weekends, after a week of not driving that much you'll appreciate the car more.

This subject happens to come up every time i join a new forum when i get a new car.
I am a perfectionist myself. I become very **** at times with my cars. I learned my mistake with my first car and babied it tooo much. Modified it to a point where i didnt want to drive it anywhere to avoid miles, scratches/rockchips, or something breaking.
Now i see it as its just a car. let alone just a lexus. we pay for insurance, car payments (for those who have payments), and the value is just keeps decreasing while it sits in the garage.
Have fun, mod it, enjoy it! DRIVE IT! =)

Unless a car is modified like "MrExecutive" (I think thats his name [cola brown GS]) or gets 2 miles a gallon due to heavily modded engines, no reason to not drive any car
... However, in my case I'm not to concerned with my exterior, its the wear on the interior. Once I get my interior done, I dont think I'd drive it as much.

Every single day. Putting 30K in 10months just driving around DFW area only. Would like to keep low mileage but don't have spare car to drive.
