Question

What do you guys think i should get first? I have heard from a lot of people that i should get the TC first, but I also really want the HFI because it looks really nice in the engine bay, and it gives me lots of power. But i want the TC because i want to be able to burn rubber really well, and i want to have amazing launches.

Question See Old Forum

Sasha - We were kicking this around with someone on the old Forum but on a GS4. Does Mo have the GS3 HFI ready now? If not, then it's an EZ choice to go with the TC. I had the HFI first & it didn't help me launch much but passing power was alot better. If ya want to "peel out" - God, I'm old to use that term! , then the TC is the answer. Made a huge difference for me & I know U have some stereo tonnage in your trunk to overcome!

Smile Stereo Tonnage

haha stereo tonnage, yea, i guess thats a good point...
TC it is then i guess, well that is until mid-summer, i hope to be able to afford both by fall, but the problem is i need a new front bumper too because mine is screwed, and i also wanted an RMM grill, actually kinda funny when you think about it, an RMM grill costs as much as a new front bumper! haha, i guess the grill will have to wait.

The TC will make the most difference. Your 3.0 has decent top end power at 225 but not enough torque. The TC gives you TORQUE. Even the 4.0s need more torque.

Where did any of you get your torque converter installed? Is this something the dealership might entertain?

RMM installed SRT's Torque Converter for me in 3 hours for 200 bucks.

Yo Sasha, you should wait when SRT releases the new intake/ECU, tranny ECU. I believe they will have group-buy and it can definitely lower your cost. I got mine from benkea but he already left Lexus community.

I believe that tranny ECU will take the sluggish feeling when you step on the gas pedal if I remember it correctly. According to Mo, the new kits should be released in 3 to 5 weeks. Something we're all looking forward to.

Talking so soon?

nice! i hate that feeling! when i pounce on it it sluggs for a couple seconds, that will be gone??? i've wanted that out for such a long time!!!! imagine TC/HFI/ECU/TECU that'll get ya movin!

TC on launch, then the HFI/ECU then TECU/TC at each shift! and when you need a quick downsift the TECU is right there!

I see you already figured that out. So just be patient and wait. The best is yet to come.

Sasha, how many KM's are on your car? what part of the engine is mostly effected by the milage anyways. you should probly replace those first, its not up to me but i think if you got some performance internals it would bring the performance of the engine up to how it was new, or higher. what is the tranny ECU supposed to do anyways?

Unhappy Internals

internals are effected most, carbon build up, stains on the cylinder walls, piston rings starting to leak, loss of compression possible, nothing a bolt on part could fix
