hey cl,
well first off, my car 98 gs 300 has a hard time startin up. it has 150k miles. it will start up 8 out 10 times. but for the other 2 times, it will start and die out instantly and will start up again with no problems. i had my mechanic check it iut, did full maintaince: sprk plugs, timin belt, water puimp. etc. No CEL lights or any lights.

i do have 2 12'', 2 amps: 1500watts 2 chnn and 4chnn 400wats

No capacitor: could it be hte system drainin the battery?

and this just happened the other day. i was driving in ther parking lot,had my music full blast and it suddenly died WHILE in Drive. i turned it off and started back up, it started fine/

help: what do you guys think it is

i think your alternator is bad.

 

Check your charging system should be in the range of 13.2 - 14.5V. If the charging system is fine, then next bet is check the battery voltage. If it is low after using your high powered amp, then you will need to get a capacitor. GL!

 

Have you cleaned your IAC valve?? (Idle Air Control valve) It is on your throttle body and controls your idle when your vehicle starts. Over time this valve gums up and sticks so when you start it the car it just dies but will resart w/o a prob. I use to see this alot on GS300 and RX300 when I worked for lexus. Its a cheap and easy fix.GL
