Say! how does one keep the headlights lookin clean?!
hello everyone, i'm bout ready to replace my headlights on my 98 gs4, but i was wondering if there's any techniques to maintain such fresh clarity? pleeease any input would be much appreciated. thanks
Get some clea bra put on the headlights. That way the rocks and elements will weather down the plastic film instead of the headlight lens. Once it starts looking old, replace the clear bra clear film with a new one.
I haven't purchased the clear bra yet (near future), but on my other cars, I use Meguires Mag/Aluminum Polish every other wash. It cleans them up really well. I used it on a friends car whose was really dirty (looked like a frosted headlight but worse) and it took off a lot of it (dramatically increasing the light output) after a lot of rubbing.

After you get it nice and clear, you should instead protect the lens in some way.
If not the clear-bra, you can use various sealants/waxes/etc-whatever your favorite car care product is, as long as it is optically clear. Some are meant specifically for headlamps/plastic.

those polishes are only quick fixes , even my 3 step from 3m is only so good.
Take them to a detailing shop and have them wet sanded. Once they high speed buff them get them clear bra'd and they will look like new and you can replace the plastic every 2 years for a fresh look as it will yellow slightly.

I wouldn't personally use brake fluid on mine. I don't know if it will harm the plastic but I believe brake fluid is very harmful to paint so I wouldn't mess around with it that close to the paint since there are much safer options and I can't see the brake fluid being any more effective.
I used the PlastX with a DA buffer on mine and it removed all the yellow haze that was there when I bought the car. Granted there are still fine scratches that would need something more aggressive like wet sanding to completely remove but they look much, much better and I'm satisfied with them.
It all depends on how much effort and money you're willing to put into them and how perfect you want them to look; you've got alot of great suggestions for any budget.

Brake fluid worked perfectly when I did it couple days ago. Im very careful not to touch the paint. I dabbed a little onto a piece of cloth and just wiped it onto the headlights and used a towel to clean/buff it. Looks great now.
