i just ordered mine from sewell, had it cut for like 143 shipped and i will program it with directions from here!

 

I am in the same situation. No master key! and I know its something about 98-00 gs300/gs400 having to be reflashed in order to get any keys programmed or made which costs BANK!!!

I have a 99 gs400 with no master key, only valet. and I wanna make a spare key or a master key. Can SWELL make us one? just by looking up our vin? or do we gotta go through the whole ECM reflash?

 

Hey guys just wanting to respond to your questions about keys.I am a locksmith.The cutting part you will have to get done at a locksmith because the key is high security.If you have a master key you can program additional keys yourself.You can't program them if you only have a valet key.The ecu must be removed and flashed.The ones you buy off ebay should work fine.Some just dont have the Lexus emblem on the back. You have to flash the ecu.There is no way around it.Toyota and Lexus have a one time deal where if this is your first time losing the keys they will waiver the cost of labor but still charge you for the keys.Not sure if they do that anymore.98-01gs300/400 has to be flashed. 02-05 gs300 are locksmith programable if they have the machine which i do.

 

AzGS is correct. I called my Lexus dealer and hopefully my GS hasn't had the master keys lost with the previous owner because they said that they will replace the computer free the first time but if it's the second time it'll cost about $1500. Ouch. Never lose the master key or have someone steal your girlfriend's purse.

 

or just dont let your girlfriend TOUCH your keys......?

 

previous owner of my car got the car repossessed from him so thats why I dont have the master key to my car haha

I always tell my gf to put my keys in her purse lol its ok though cause girls will never let their louie or gucci bags leave their sides haha

 

The Louie I got her got stolen with the master key and a damn 3G iphone. Bad luck all over the place. My Lexus dealer hear in Austin said the computer should be free a=once we check the vin number.

 

damn! she didnt have the bag with her or what? yeah the ecu should be free as long as your car has a clean title...but labor n keys are a biatch!

 

the ecu is free IF its never been replaced for free (Lexus will do this ONCE for the gs's) BUT i really thought all the dealers stopped doing this, It has nothing to do with your car having a clean title........... NOOBS lol
