Default Steering Wheel

Does anyone know if its a way to stop the steering wheel from moving in and out when you start and cut off the car? I think that the motor maybe starting to go out a little on mine.

Go to the dealer and have the feature removed. If you need more info, the search feature is a great help

I'm with you on that!! This morning, it was cold out and my wheel would not move either. Only out and not down. After a short drive then getting back in the car hours later, back to normal. SCAREY!! I may have the feature pulled as well. There were prior posts about lubricating, which could help and/or prevent, but is impossible.

Good luck.

I just set my desired position of the steering wheel.

Removed the lower steering column cover.

And disconnected both both motors for the tilt, telescoping feature.

Only the early LS had the on off switch. Not sure when the changed occurred, but by the time I got my 99 LS it had no on off switch.

the 1st Gen GS also had the on/off switch beside the toggle switch on the majority of models. (some didnt but not sure why because we didnt notice a consistency of year model or specification level!)
