Check Engine Light- EVAC. HELP!!!
After I cleaned my Throttle body, my car runs great. 3 weeks later the check engine light went on. The codes show 440 and 446= EVAC. What is EVAC?
I ran BG 44K and it didn't solve the problem. But the car runs great.
The guy at the shop told me it'll cost me a fortune to fix, and if I don't, I wont pass the emissions inspection.
I am thinking about selling the car ASAP before my inspection expires.
Anyone know of these codes 440 and 446? Anyone know anything about EVAC?
HELP! THANK YOU!

Start with making sure your gas cap is on tight. If it is you might want to replace it. Once you have done this have the codes cleared. These are the two most common and the easiest repairs for these codes.
Most likely, it is something you did. "Evaporative system", There are little hoses connected to the air cleaner that is part of the the system. Double check your work and make sure all the hoses are connected properly. Especially the ones on top of the air cleaner.
thought i'd chime in here after seeing your posts on other threads... what kind of intake do you have? is it a K&N drop-in into the stock airbox or is it a cone filter?
i got the same EVAP canister codes when i threw in my generic ebay short ram intake... the problem is that the EVAP canister vacuum line has nothing to hook up to (weapon R intakes include a t-connector for instance to close it off). have yet to reinstall but when i do, closing off that line (probably zip-tying it) should fix it at least for me.

i got the 446 code too..runs perfect but just dont kno what it is..changed the gas cap..tightened it..reset the code..came back a few miles later..is there a way to test what the exact problem is or would a mechanic have to do that?
It sounds to me like a faulty purge selonoid. Not sure where it is on this model... usually it's a square plastic thing bolted to the top of the intake somewhere. it will have vacuum lines going in and out of it. Also check the lines for cracking.
Problem Solved! Turns out that when I cleaned my throttle body, I forgot to connect one of the pipes back. Now that's done, and light is out for good. (lets hope it stays that way).
Thank You every one!!!!
