Default Giant box?

When I pulled the intake tube off my throttle body today to clean it, the big rectangular box that attaches to the back side of the intake tube after the MAF sensor broke (I forgot to pull the front hose off its nipple). What is this box for? I need to know because now I need a new one after my DUMBA$$ broke off the NIPPLE!

Does it get deleted with the intake when an aftermarket intake gets installed? Maybe now's the time to get an FIPK. now...right when I'm broke!

You are genius! Thank you! I did a search, but apparently not using the right terms...

One other question, if I may...I want to get the K&N FIPK at some point--this box gets deleted I assume? Or just capped off at the point it joins the intake pipe?

I don't have a aftermarket intake on my GS but i would think that the stock intake pipe and this box come completely out of the car. The vacuum lines currently hooked up to this box would most likely plug into the new intake pipe.

Someone witha FIPK kit will chime in.
