Default Window-mount brake light 2GS

hey guys,

i have a 98 GS300 Aussie delivered model and it is a legal requirement to have 3 brake lights. All the aussie delivered GS's came with the spoiler with the brake light on it.

i dont like the wing so im getting it removed in the next couple of weeks. but i will then need to ASAP organize a window-mounted brake light. I asked the dealer here in Perth but they have no option for me so they say. I know the JDM cars had them, but dont know how to source one from japan (cant find one on the auctions).

i wonder if anyone could point me in the right direction for one, either OEM or one that will fit. My interior is the Beige/Tan combo.

cheers for any assistance people,
-Ant

check carson toyota
http://www.l-tunedparts.com/index.htm

you will need a rear board to accommodate the interior 3rd brake light as well.
got any junk/salvage yards over yonder in Aussie land?

if it were me, i'd just get like an 8 in. red LED strip, mount it to the top of the rear window and wire it to your brake lights. Not only would it be gangsta stealthy, but it'd look pretty hot too.

Maybe even that 'line of fire' thing they have for pickups? just run it the perimeter of the window haha i have to say that'd be pretty trippy.

I modded a Mac Blick roof spoiler, and added an LED brake Lights. As far as i know i dont think they lexus have anything like that from factory from Lexus. Ill post you a picture as soon as i get it back from the shop.

istundra - i dont have a pic at the moment, but its just the same as the US cars i think? i can get a snap later though..

4nt - i couldnt see anything on Carson, or on the OEM parts sections either so that's why i asked here. im not sure what you mean by board? i was after something that would sit at the bottom of the rear shelf.

jcat - yeh i was just going to go an LED strip at the bottom of the back window. i just thought id check it there was a light i could buy first that was more OEM style.

03aristo - thanks for that, that would be great.

BTW i saw this car on YAJ auctions advertising roof and boot wings (decided not to get them at the moment though) but i noticed it's interior light. thats what i was hoping to locate but in Beige...

ah good spot - although what threw me is i clicked on Beige since i have a beige interior, and it says "Beigie - on spoiler - on spoiler" and its $199.28US?

i would have that ivory is more a white kind of colour than beige but the description definately sounds more like it. might have to contact them.

USDM/OEM rear deck has a hole where the wiring is located. at the bottom of that hole is a metal covering of some sort that i would assume is the trunk on the other side (sorry for the run-on sentence). there is a hole in the deck, since the USDM/OEM sort of snaps/slides into this 'hole'. i know cause i've taken my rear deck apart.

haha, well actually what the ivory interior entails is light tan seats/carpet, brown dash/floor mats, light tan headliner, brown door panels, and light tan rear deck/3rd brake light.

i would almost actually get the line of fire thing and put it right underneath where that roof spoiler mounts, i think that'd look pretty hot.
