I got to work this morning and as I'm walking around the back of my car I'm noticing how dirty the car is on the rear quarter panel then as I keep looking I see some dirt on my trunk, when I take a closer look I realize that my eBay lip spoiler has been stolen. The "dirt" is actually the double-sided tape I used to put the spoiler on. All I did was laugh. Good thing it wasn't an authentic. Makes me think though, maybe I should have sold it to whomever it was that inquired about it when I was going to part my car out lol.
No it must have happened overnight. Obviously there's somebody cheaper than I am that would rather steal it than pay for it lol. I'm not even stressing it, it's not a big deal I just thought I would share since it just happened.
i ran an ad on autotrader for my jeep grand cherokee in CO in 05, got a call from some kid who was interested, he showed up the next day with his mom (kid was like 17), they test drove it with me in the car, the kid kept asking about the 600$ brand new alpine cd / everything player. the next afternoon the jeeps window was broken and the removable face plate form the alpine was half off... the glass break alarm went off and they were to scared to take their time and steel it (in broad daylight in an apartment complex),,, its cool cuz i was out the door in about 45 secs with a 10 inch bowie knife and didn't even notice anyone so one of us was lucky that we didn't run into the other one. i had to pay like 150 to get the window replaced though... you think the young punk kid asking all the questions about the cd player had anything to do with it??? i emailed the dudes dad the next day at my work (which is actually how the kid found the ad come to find out) and the dad accused me of accusing his son and that i was in the wrong for the miss accusations.
good luck with finding the punks responsible though... if you have a low insurance deductible and receipts you would only have to pay the deductible.. this is why i lowered mine to $50...
I'd also pose a second alternative.... double sided tape isn't always a tight mounting solution. It's entirely possible that the thing just fell off while you were driving.
You know what it is, I don't really place too much importance on material things. They're nice to have but believe me I've had worse things happen. Even if it was an authentic $200-300 spoiler it wouldn't have bothered me so much. I'll just get another one off of eBay and put it on there with something stronger. It's actually a good thing they stole it though because I have a roof spoiler that I want to get painted and I was planning on putting it on with that same double-sided tape. Now I know I won't be using that lol.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. I give it a 50/50 chance of stolen or fallen off. My son used the double -sided tape for his rear deck spoiler on his IS and it was half off shortly thereafter. On the other hand I had a Camry that had the chrome exhaust tips stolen so who knows?
stealing exhaust tips now huh?? wow... well i had an acquaintance (not so much a friend) back in high school who tried to sell me someones clear side markers that he had just stolen off some dudes honda one time... these must be desperate times we're living in,, what with the recession and all.
