Nav upgrade for 1999 GS400

Howdy Gang,

I'm looking to update my GPS. I think I heard that this had to be done by the dealer and the newest one is from like 2003 and the dealer wants about $500 for this. Anyone have any differnt info or sources?

Well, for 98-00 you have to update the hard drive. Is you dealer going to change it out to a CD based version?

upgrade

500 is way way way too much. if you have the old hard drive, you can bring it to the dealer and they will charge about 265 for the updated 2004. Thats what i found out when i ran into the problem of not having a hard drive on my car. I been looking for an affortable hard drive for 7 months still with no luck

but yeah lexus of sacramento/ charge 265 with your old hard drive for core for the upgrade hard drvice with the streets from 2004

I don't think that is possible. At least not reasonably so with the amount of cash that would be involved to accomplish the conversion.

Better to get a portable unit then to buy the latest hard drive version that was last updated in 05.
