Default Installing Gps

I am new to this site and I find most of the threads very informative. I recently purshased an '01 GS 300 and I want to upgrade some of the features. I'll very much appreciate it if someone can help me with the right model/brand of GPS to install (e.g Pioneer) or better yet direct me to an earlier thread where it may have been discussed.

Thanks for your help!

Whateva .....

Who uses CD's anymore ? I rock my D3 with an iPod and leave the Nav DVD in the slot. You only need the Nav DVD if you are changing the route (you can memory load more than 1) or if you need to lookup POIs.

Downside is you can't watch DVD video (you can if it is on your iPod)

Thanks guys for the update and I have read a lot of the reviews on ebay and amazon about the pioneer brand. I think a lot people complains about having to change the dvd and all that...I might have to with the very expensive one.

hey bossgs4... who uses cd's huh? i still use my tape player homie... if you put your mp3's on a dvd you can fit like 1200+. once these blue ray player laser readers are available you could put upwards of like 12,500+ on a blue ray disc (50gig) and listen to that... thats your entire ipod memory on a single cd buddy...

Do you listen to your CDs while your reading your printed World Book Encyclopedias ?

I'm sure buying all the gear required to do all that will be much cheaper than a $400 AVIC-D3 + $30 iPod cable + $200 iPod Video which solves Music, NAV, Video TODAY !

If you HAVE to have CD with your D3 there is a conversion for the Factory Lexus Pioneer changer that allows you to use it with the IP Bus.
