Default check engine light...

so this is my first Lexus or shall i say luxury car, and the check engine light just went off. how serious is this? and what are the cases for it normally? my car has 69k miles on it now..

check engine lights can mean sooooooooo many things. anything from not tightening your gas cap properly to having a misfire. just go to a shop and ask them to check out the codes for the light and it will tell you. most shops will check it for free, unless they are greedy and might charge like 20 or so.

its nothing to worry about though. if it was something big, you would probably already know.

yeah, got it checked today...my 02 is the problem and he is charging me 250 for everything! anyone in the sgv know a cheaper place. he said the part alone is 155.

DAMNNN. thats a lot. which 02 sensor is it? Do you know the code? i bought an oem sensor off of ebay for $55 and replaced it myself. Not hard at all with the help of this forum

***** i wish i remembered the code. but the mechanic was saying alot of people buy them off ebay but its recommended to use the OEM part. so i dunno..but i knnow i gotta come up with some money
