Are you being serious? Frame damage is a major issue, I'm assuming your being sarcastic. Anyways, carmax never gives you anything for your car, probably one of the worst places to trade in a vehicle.

i understand it's a major thing.. one reason why i got the car for a deal (it was about 2k less than most gs4's in the market at that time)

but he told me i probably would have gotten no more than 5k even w/o the accident

i know i wasn't expecting much from carmax.. but $3,500 is an insult

frame dmg is serious
for a 98 gs4 w/165k on the clocker, w/frame dmg, id guess u may get between $5-$8k max. sorry, there are many factors negating you possibly getting much more...but of course, i could be wrong.

in the end, GL w/your sale!

yea 3500 is really low. but like macd said, frame damage is a huge issue. but why did you go to carmax anyway?

Well, carmax would be auctioning off your car since they don't sell frame damaged cars. Most dealers don't want to take much of a risk on any vehicle, which is why they give you a lowball offer incase repairs are needed. With frame damage though its going straight to the auction where they hope for the best. I believe with those miles your car is worth more around $5k-7k due to finding cars of the same year with less miles for around $9k-11k.

well Carmax does really not take in a 10 year old car with over 120K miles...if you read their trade in thing you would of known that....all the cars on their lots do not exceed 10 years of age, or over 120K miles...thats their deal

Ouch frame damage... Sell it to a used car lot in your area. I am sure they will be make a profit off of some unsuspecting first time car buyer..

When I traded my scion in they offered me $8500 and I checked the blue book before I went and it was around $6000. It needed a new windshield and a new rear bumper and its first major tune up. They told me that I would've got more by trading it in at a dealer because dealers use trade-ins as incentives and carmax doesn't since they will buy your car even if you aren't buying something from them. The salesman said I might get $10k if I took it to a dealer but they had an 04 GS300, black on black with 34k miles there that I wanted and thought the price was good on so I took it. But I do agree, carmax does suck though!

you mean they gave you $6000, but it was worth $8500, right?
Because if what you are saying is true, than you got a better deal
