Default Tow Hitch Possible?

I'm going to be moving across the US in a few months and only have one room of stuff that I need to take with me, but more than would fit in my car like my 46" LCD, and 7 guitars. Renting a truck would cost over $1000 plus the cost to rent a separate trailer to tow my car behind (another 300) plus all the gas from the truck would be ridiculous. A trailer would only cost me about 225 plus whatever a tow hitch would cost. I've seen tow hitches on 4 door sedans before and even thought it might look horrible on my car it could save me lots of money. Is it even possible to install a tow hitch on my 2002 GS300 Sport Design? Can anyone help me out?

Thanks,
Jim

PS....I would definately be taking it OFF after I moved and returned the trailer.

im sure its possible, you should ask a tow hitch place. there used to be one next to my dads shop and ive seen a few 4 door sedans leave with them. but to get a 100% answer, i would suggest asking a shop that does that work.

Unless your pulling an extremely light load, I do not reccomend towing with a unibody vehicle.

I've searched for a hitch for my 98 Gs4. None available. The owners manual also states to NOT tow with this vehicle.
I'd be most concerned to what it would do to the transmission unless you have a heavy duty trans cooler.

P.S. I own a motorcysle trailer for my Harley. Funny part is I have nothing to pull it with so I have to ride the bike everywhere.

Thanks for your replies guys I dunno what I'm gonna do. Its just so damn exlensive expensive and impractical to rent a truck and trailer.

I have a great detachable one.

Now you see it:

Now you dont:

It is rated to 2000kg for a braked trailer (750kg without brakes)!!!

The specs are here:

The installation manual pdf is here:
http://www.brinkweb.com/download_manual.php?id=478

Oh, the manual states that a tranny cooler MUST be installed and they even give Lexus part numbers!, but these parts >€1000!, so I installed a much cheaper (and probably better) BM cooler.

Lexus in Ireland did offer at the time to fit towbars on new 98-05 GS's

I would agree that you should probably not look to tow much behind your car, but this statement is incorrect. Most of your cross over vehicles are unibody and capible of towing heavy loads. The RX is capible of 3500lbs. You can not Dingi Tow your vehicle, but you can tow with your vehicle. Look at a disabled persons store for a hitch. They specialize in hitches for unusual cars.
