Default Possible ignition problem

I was wondering if anyone could help me with this. Recently my car has been acting strange at certain rpm's

At around 2100, it loses power and I get this weird sound from my exhaust that sounds like slight backfiring when you let off and get back on the gas on a turbo car. It does this at around 2100 - 2200 and 2400 - 2500, then the rest of the revband feels pretty normal.

Are my plugs the culprit? I think they have quite a few km's on them. Help pls!

Does it sound like metal rattling around in a metal box or something? Might be the Catalytic converter if so.

I have that rattling sound. U sure its the cat going bad or if its just the heatshield around the cat? Any quick fixes and/or cheap alternatives to fix that rattling problem? I was thinking of trying to retighten the heatshield or remove it completely.

^^ retighten the bolts. Do not remove it unless you want a heat heater year-round

rattling heat shields aren't gonna rob power away. Take a look at the spark plugs and see if they're fouled. From your description it sounds like high load, low RPM misfire. Going low speed up a hill while pressing the gas would similate this condition and if it starts to sputter then I'd check your ignition components first... but you might as well throw in new spark plugs anyway if you're due for a change.

Yes, its especially noticeable on hills and 3rd gear pulls from 80 km/h to pass someone on the highway.

I guess I'll be getting some new plugs after work. Thank you!
