Rough idle possible fix
OK here are the details and layout of events. I have a 2000 GS400 recently purchased. has about 190K miles runs strong smooth shift very nice. About 2 weeks ago it began to shake at any stop. While coming to a stop you could feel the vibrations. My idle was at 450 or so. Took it to two places. A specialty shop for Lexus and foreign cars estimate totaled about 2500. Was told tps, charcoal canister, mis fire in 1 3 5 7 injector all kind of stuff not to mention I still had to get a tune up and reprogrammed. I decided to have my throttle cable tightened up so at least the car would not stop on me. It had not stop so far but did not want to take a chance. Now my idle was about 800. Ok went to the dealer same thing and I had to pay for the estimate and I was not able to get a guarantee it would correct the issue however the dealer wanted 3500 for the same work. Ok after crying a bit and a small bit of rage I read all of the forums day and night and tried to make my own solution. I try a fuel injector cleaner called Johnson's. My gas light had just come on. I paid $1.85 for the bottle. Used all of it and as soon as I started the car up it was almost instant. Drove the car around the block and at the light I thought it turned off on me. NOPE just smooth and silky like brand new at 450 idle. The car was warm, no ac, no issues, nothing. I am not claiming it will work for everyone but so far it has solved all of my problems. All lights are now off after a battery reset and drove about 30 miles with out any thing else happeneing. Hope someone can use this. I posted a pic in case anyone wants to try and get some of this stuff. Hopefully it remains this way
A lot of fuel injectors will work. I used Lucas via fuel injector canistor method. My injectors were clogged a bit because you could see a difference in gauge pressure before and after the treatment.
Good course of action!
Do the simple stuff first.
With that many miles a good fuel injector cleaner is good preventive maintainance. I like Redline...
GSteg: Do you have a inline fuel pressure gauge?
If you do, is it temporary or permanent?

Frank, the gauge is on the fuel injector canister that is hooked up to an air compressor. You'll need to set it to the right amount of pressure otherwise your car will hate you. The GS400 (not sure about the GS3) stock fuel pressure is 51psi. We set it to 51psi and eventually the gauge read 48psi because the injectors were finally unclogged, so we cranked it back up to 51psi.
This method is a lot quicker and more efficient than just dumping the solution into the gas tank. When you dump the stuff into the gas tank, it's usually too diluted to have any large affect. When feeding through the fuel rail, you can run a higher concentration, without having to go through your whole gas tank. Immediate results can be accomplished.
But to prevent the injectors from clogging again, I usually dump twice the amount of Lucas in my tank as suggested. I only do this with the Lucas because it's a non-solvent formula and it wont hurt if you accidently put a bit too much. Plus it has lubricants to quiet down those injectors.
