Default Looking for 12V switched source in trunk

Hello,

I am looking for a 12V switched source in the trunk to power a device that consumes only 1-2AMP Max.

I really do not want to rip the whole interior apart to run a wire just for this small part.

Any idea what source i am tap to power up this 12V 1-2AMP device?

Thank you

It's not that hard to run a cable along the side by the door. Can't take more than 5 to 10 minutes to do. Don't tap in to the trunk, but if you must, then a test light should help you find what you are looking for.

i got a test light and i do not want to rip out the interior. If i were to, then I will have to remove the seat and other stuff.

If you can't find a wire in the trunk, getting it from the center console is the next best thing. Just remove the rear seats and part of the center console and you got yourself a clear path to run a wire. The only difficult part of this is feeding the wire under the carpet, which is not even that hard.

why not just tap into the trunk's light, the one when your truck is open it is on.

I was thinking about that.. but that means i should find the source before the trunk pin switch. Even considering the trunk pin switch, it will be a 12V Constant. I only need a 12V switched.

Nice heads up tho. But i will look into it....

Any more ideas?

DaveGS4,

Thanks for the Info.

Anyway, I guess i have to take my interior apart again to run the 12V switched for this low power device (1AMP).

If you guys are woundering, I have installed a eclipse DD and i'm using this 12V source for the reverse camera. The 6V Output from the eclipse DD reverse camera will trigger the relay; thus allowing the 12V to activate the aftermarket reverse camera.
