Smile Gs300 for first car?

What do you all think about a Gs300 for a first car.? I am 16 and will hopefully be looking for a 98-01 GS300 soon. Is this a reliable car for being 10 or so years old? How is the insurance on these? Gas Millage? Safety against crashes? Any info you guys could tell me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I think a toyota corolla, camry, honda civic, accord are great 1st cars even if they are a 1995 model used.

The GS would obviously outshine them.. well maybe not gas mileage-wise.

Insurance is higher due to luxury cars being more expensive to fix than for example a civic. Insurance takes that into consideration. You are 16 so of course insurance is higher. General maintenace isnt TOO expensive since lexus is a toyota but not as cheap as the other cars i listed for a first car.

Theres airbags so youre fine, accidents are accidents it depends on what happens. Car is solid just make sure to read the most frequent issues and search.

lol yeah i just took on another job to save up for it. I think i will be able to grab it by the end of the Summer. I have seen a few on Craigslist for sale, prices ranging from 8- 11 grand...does that sound ballpark for these cars?

Plz listen to what J had to say hes 10000000% correct, trust me if i had a rwd luxury car at 16 i would be in a wheel chair right about now. Start off like the majority of us drivers did. Get a 4banger fwd 38mpg car to get you to and from parties. Im pretty sure you wouldnt want you GS300 getting keyed at school or trying to show off and hit a car in it? Get a civic learn to drive and get used to the road. I know im glad i had my crashes in a civic not in my gs4.

hey man by the time i was 17 i just bought my gs... i already had 2 jeeps before that, and it wasent because of me being a ****head and crashing them into something... you just have to smart when you drive dont drink excesivley then drive just common sense ... and ive never been in an accident, it just all depends on the person behind the wheel--

No ^^^ ur right its just when i got t boned 2 times with my civic it wasnt the end of the world( it would be if i was in my gs) and you learn from your mistakes. Im glad i learned from all my mistakes in a civic not a rwd lexus, and at 17 i wasnt toooo mature, just saying when u turn 16 and just got ur license i dont think rwd 2 ton car is the way to go.W/e if he can handle it let him get it GL and if you do get it represent.

Drive an economy car for a few years, save some money for a Lexus without compromise, and then you will appreciate everything about the Lexus even more.

Thanks for all your input guys. I would say am rather mature, i bought a speedboat about a year ago, always careful when am out in that. Never would i drink and step foot in a car. Most likely i will purchase any car when am around 17. So i have a while to keep driving around the parents cars. My whole thing about having a nice first car is go big and nice or just go home. I just think the GS will reflect my personality. I work for my things i want so when i can go out and get them i grasp it and take off....Thanks again for your input guys.(looking at all your 300's makes me want one even more =)

My first car was a neon, then I stepped up to the GS at 20. You'll be very happy to have the GS I promise.

Where abouts in NY are ya? I'm sure if you wanted to someone in the area would give you a ride or something if you wanted to come out to a meet sometime.

The difference is the number of cylinders. GS4 has 8 cylinder while the GS300 has 6. Good luck on your purchase and keep us updated .
