Default Interior Light Question

I've had my GS4 for a few months now and like it alot. The only thing I can not figure out how to fix is something small but annoying:

1) when I open up the rear doors the interior lights do not come on.
2) when I open the front doors (or unlock with the remote) only the dome light comes on, not the rear reading lights. This makes putting the kids in their carseats a little on the dim side.

Is this normal or am I missing something? I searched the owners manual and could not find anything.

Thanks!

Unless i'm missing something, I believe the dome light is the only interior light that works w/ the doors, I mean other than the door step lights.

I have the same problem in my 98. It's a common problem and the only fix seems to be to buy new rear door actuators.

Actuators run the lights? I thought they ran the power locks.

I thought the sensors were inside the actuator unit. I'm sure the ones who've opened them up would know better.

98 here with same problem as well. My rear door step lights don't work. It is strange b/c they will come on when I turn the rear reading light on.
