Default HID Headlight replacement- What do you think

So I had a guy come out 3 months ago to sand and clean my front headlights, to make a long story short he used some chemical looks like bird poop spots all over the cover.

I see a lot of people that sell their non HID headlights for cheap so i wonder if I could pick up a couple of those and take of the front cover and replace them with mine since everything else is in perfect condition.

Has anyone ever done this?

Can you just buy the front cover or are we stuck buying the whole thing?

This should save me ton of money if it can be done.

Thanks

You can change out the lens if you wish if you can find another set of headlights.

Lexus does not sell the lens alone.

BTW, any picture of the headlight? It might be fixable.

Try wet sanding with 1500 grit sand paper before you go and spend money on headlights... Also, Top Hat is in the process of making lens for the GS, here's the link:

Was that stain or blemish there right after the guy sanded and polished the lens or did it show up sometime later?

autozone sells a kit for about 20 dollars. It brings everything you need. Specially made to restore the headlights
I am sure it will leave it spotless.

Most quality detailers now offer headlight restoration as one of their services. Its fairly easy with the correct sandpaper, polish, and a powered buffer. If you are a DIY guy you can check out the headlight sticky in the Auto Care and Detailing section of this forum for info how to do it yourself.

This of course depends on how deep it has damaged the lens. Someone elso on here was considering swapping lenses with a set of ebay headlights. you may be able to search and find his post. I don't know if he ever went through with it.
