Question Two questions from a newbie

Hi, I have a 2000 GS 400. I'm dreading hearing the price of key replacement. I had 2....one....the key part fell out.....two.....the other one lost it's "brains". So I figured out hold the 2 together to start the car. Is there ANY way to repair the key (with the brains....haven't found the missing brain yet on the one)????? Could you advise HOW to buy a not-as-expensive-as-Lexus replacement? OK, I lied................the "official question 2 is: Can the Navi system be updated on my model???

i know u can buy a empty shell from lexus but your gonna need to find that brain. and i believe you need atleast 1 master key to make another master key. And if both keys are lost i believe to get a new key you need to change everything on your car that involves to do with the key.

as long as you have one master key you can program another key to your vehicle.

yes you can update your navigation but i think on that model you have to order the hard drive to get it done. check with your local dealership to see what that may cost. where abouts in CA are you?

If you don't have a master key you can get the ECU or ECM reflashed.

Buy this shell, go cut it at Ace Hardware. Put your old key guts (brain, whatever) in it and your done. If you spend more than $30 total, you wasted money. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-2...spagenameZWDVW

If you're in SoCal (like south LA) or willing to drive there I know a place that will duplicate your key for $25-30. PM me if you want more info
