I found a nice 1999 Blue Mica GS400 with 33,000 miles going to auction today. It had the premium sound package, no sunroof, tan leather and was in great shape. Unfortunately it went for a bit over my budget. The car sold at auction for $29,200. Hopefully a CL member got it but it wasn't me. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

Keep looking, it'll happen. I looked for over a year, and found my GS, at of all places, Car Max

 

I'll keep looking until I find the right car at the right price. Also, if anybody else is looking let me know. My auto dealer is doing a great job for me. He called me from the auction while he was inspecting the car to tell me about its options, condition (right down to any scratches it had, etc.). He likes to get there early for an inspection and test drive of all cars he's bidding on for customers. I'm very pleased with him thus far.

Yes they do. And I was excited about it for several reasons. 1. thought it probably weighed less than a sunroof model 2. zero chance of future leak problems 3. I have a sunroof in my old GS300 and I hardly ever use it 4. I hoped it would get less bidding by dealers 5. It usually means a bit more headroom

But oh well, the search goes on.

What dealer are you using? Do they mark up the price of the car then sell it to you? I hardly ever use the sunroof myself

 

Its a guy named Chad who is a total straight shooter. He's at an auction right now if you want to call him (904-241-9118). Please let him know you heard about him through me.

Edit: he adds a fee (a few hundred bucks depending on the car) on top of the auction price. But that's what they all do to make some $ for their efforts. Maybe we can have a CL bulk discount if enough of us use him.
