Looking at getting my first GS 300
I just found this site while looking for a new car and the info here is great. Im looking at a 99 GS 300 with 106K on the clock, It is silver with gray leather, heated seats, trac, snrf etc. The car is fully serviced by the local lexus dealer. The asking price was about 16k and I talked the guy down to 14K plus tax title and license. Do you guys think this is a fair price? Iv checked kbb and tried searching as well. Thanks
14 is still too much for a 99 GS300 with 106,000K miles. I would offer $11,000 and 12 tops if you must have that car. I would definitely get a carfax report and take the car to a reputable Lexus dealer for an inspection. There was already someone who saw their GS400 being sold that was totaled in an accident and it sold for way more then it should of even if it wasn't originally totaled. Look for moisture in headlights, rough idle, timing belt changed around 90,000 miles, make sure all electronics work, and maybe check for a bad head gasket as that can be very expensive. If everything checks out it should be a reliable car.
If it were low miles I would say $14 is ok. I would try to get him down to 12 to see if he bites. If not then move on. There are plenty of good cars out there. Just make sure you have it checked out by a mechanic or what I did was take it to the lexus dealer and let them check it. It cost a little bit of $ but the peace of mind is worth it. I dont remember how much it was but it wasnt a lot. Good luck in your search and I hope you find a great car

Well I went in to finish the deal and came out with nothing. The manager decided that my offer of 14k was too low after accepting it yesterday. Im just sick of this dealer and their games so im going to look eleswhere. The car was great with 90k service done and great color, but it doesnt look like its going to happen. In the meantime if anyone sees any good deals in the west feel free to pm me. thanks

Have you try the power search at autotrader?
Yeah the car was overpriced. They had it listed for 15,900 , I offered 14 yesterday and left. Today the sales guy called me and told me to come in for a deal, thats when they told me 14 was too low. Im moving on, there is plenty of others out there
