I am looking to take on this project of adding the OEM controls. I have the switch and just need a little help in getting the harness. Basically from a wrecked GS or which ever other vehicle uses the same swith. Anyone have an idea or know where I can get it?? I have a 99 GS with the wood wheel and stereo controls.....

Did you take off your airbag yet? The plug should be there... what harness are you referring to? Every wire on the steering wheel has to go through the clock spring, should be pre-wired to accept it.
Radio CONTROLS
NO, i HAVE NOT.. But are you sure> ? I was doing a little reserach, and it appears that the 2003 GS430 for sure.... has these radio controls> There may be other 01+ 430's w/o navigation that have this option. I will be removing the airbag later this afternoon.... I don't think the plug will be there though, because as you may know, I had the standard Pioneer radio w/o stereo controls in my 99 GS, but I upgraded it to the 01+ premium pioneer with RDS, TRAF, and TYPE features... This is the same radio that is in the 03 GS430 with the stereo controls.... So I know the stereo I have now will support the option. It's just a matter of wether all 98-05 GS's came prewired with the stereo mounted controls harness as a standard cost effective way of mass producing.... and maybe just didn't use it until the 01's came out. I WILL USE THE HEATED SEATS OPTION AS AN EXAMPLE. MY CAR DID NOT COME WITH HEATED SEATS... BUT THE HARNESS IS THERE AND IF YOU BUY THE CONSOLE WITH THE SWITCHES, THEY PLUG RIGHT IN AND LIGHT UP. OBVIOUSLY, I DO NOT HAVE HEATED SEATS, BUT THE HARNESS IS THERE, POWERED, AND THEY LIGHT UP FOR ME....

Just take your airbag off... it probably took you more time to create & reply to this thread that it will take you to remove the airbag.... as a matter of fact, I take that back! If you remove the dummy plastic cover from the left side of the wheel (basically where the volume control would mount). You will see if you have the harness or not, no need to even remove the airbag! I have a 2003 and the car is prewired and once you remove that cover, you will see the un-used plug. Hope this helps...

Well, I did not have the plug there.. Or I would have plugged it in already. That's why I was asking for input and took the time to write, because I did not think my car would have it. Also the reason I was asking for anyone that had knowledge of a 98-00 having this feature.... I will just have to use my electrical skills and figuire it out. First i have to go out and look for the harness and a local wrecking yard...
