Default AWD GS - is this true

Don't know if this has been discussed and is old news but has anyone heard of the next generation GS being an AWD car? I went to a dealership yesterday and the salesperson told me that the GS will be going AWD in 2003/2004. Now I know that dealer's usually know squat about the development but has anyone heard anything else about this?

Lexus is probably going to try and cash in on the AWD performance market like the WRX and the EVO (hopefully they'll bring it here) are in. If they are going to make an AWD GS, it will probably a special edition one. Of course this is all a guess.

Default Don't think so

I think people may be speculating that the new Lexus that should be unveiled late in 2002 the "GX" (probably 430) is the AWD GS. It's not it'll be the Lexus version of the Toyota Sequoia.

Talking

AWD rumors re next generation GS keep surfacing on various forums. I think it's wishful thinking.

Over the past 10 years, I've known about, as well as had some details and occas. pix of, model changes and appearances just as soon as my dealer has, merely on the basis of subscriptions to 3 of the 4 "major" nonspecialty auto mags. And there's been nothing there yet.

I think Lexus will most likely bring over the 4WD IS first since the Toyota altezza and the altezza gita are already available in 4WD.

I know the Gita has 4wd available for the 3.0 models but I've NEVER heard that the regular Altezzas can get 4WD too!

maybe i was wrong on the altezza, but for sure that gita has 4wd...well, it's basically the same thing, won't be difficult for toyota to offer 4wd on the altezza..I really think next yr lexus will bring the 4wd IS here to compete against the 325xi/330xi

I think they'll probably add the 4WD option in the IS SportCross next year, but I don't think they need the 4WD for regular IS300s. The 325xi/330xi market is so small, there really a need for a competition there.
