Every time you come to a complete stop, the car starts in 1st, unless you are in snow mode.

You can't shift the car down to 1st in manual mode, supposedly it's a safety precaution by Lexus. I think there is a device that allows you to do it though.

I am attempting to troubleshoot something and knowing this information about Snow Mode would be of much help. Thank you.

unless i have a freak GS400 i can confirm that it DOES NOT start the car in 2nd. in my car snow mode deadens throttle response [a LOT!]. it doesnt lock out 1st gear. when accelerating from a stop in snow mode using e-shift at 2, i see the RPMs drop signifying a gear change from 1 to 2. with the e-shift at 2, it'll sit in 2nd gear all day. until you stop. then it'll go back to one, wind out, and shift ever so smoothly into 2nd. the car does feel like very lazy thereby making it feel like its starting out in 2nd.
