Post Daytime Running Lights

I have a 01 gs 430 that i recently got in december; for about a month i didnt realize that when i have all lights on the 2 middle daytime running lights have blown out. The funny thing is i keep my headlight switch on auto so during the day daytime running lights are on but when night comes and all lights come on they go off. im guess they have to seperate bulbs. So im thinking on Changing them blue anyone kno the size of those bulbs period and what they are called and where can i get blue bulbs for daytime running.. Forgive im a newbie to the car game lol...

The daytime running lights are actually the high beam bulbs. They do double duty.

During the day when you have the switch on auto, or don't have the lights on, the drl's are on - the high beams.

At night when you turn on the main HID lights (or on auto they will come on), the drl's (high beams) go off.

They are the 9005 bulbs.

You can get the Sylvania 9005CB Cool Blue Halogen - that are not exactly blue, but are definitely not yellow.

You can get them on amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/Sylvania-9005C.../dp/B000AMSBXQ

Note: I have not used these bulbs myself, so assume no responsibility if they are not blue enough for your tastes.

Just as as FYI, if you are in the NYC area, dark or bright blue bulbs are illegal and can (and will) get you pulled over.

I have thought about changing my DRLs out to making them HID w/ballasts and all. How hard is that to do? I know some people have done it but I don't recall finding a DIY on it.

Would you say it is worth it?

Some guys in the 2IS forums have tried some 9005 huge SMT LED high beams and they're really white in the daytime.

Something like that I think.

It's not really recommended that you do that. When the lights are on as DRL the power is cut in half, this can cause problems with the ballasts and the starters. If you want HID's in the high beams you should disable the DRL first.
