problem...can someone help me? (door actuator)
When I press unlock button driver side wont open. I have to use key in order to open…all other doors work. And when I put in DRIVE all doors r locking except driver side. And I have no idea how fix that. maybe lock broke?.... anyone?
Door lock actuator. It's a common problem with the GS. Sucks...
door actuator, I believe there is a groupbuy going on. Check the CL vendors or contact Carson's Toyota @1-800-908-6968 ask to speak to Luis. It's happens to our cars......

Buy it from the groupbuy or just call Carson's and I'm pretty sure you can install it yourself......someone else can chime in if I'm wrong. But I think it's doable.

I've heard both, that's it's easy to do yourself, but if you don't have simple knowledge of mechanics it might be a chore. I would at least buy them from the GB... it's going to be MUCH cheaper to purchase them there and have it done than if you were to go to the dealer, purchase the parts and then have them do it. I've heard some pretty stupid numbers as to how much they charge...
So all I have to do is take off side panel and just change that actuator, I don’t even know how its looks like. am gona search maybe there threads about that. I guess am gona call Carson Toyota I got number 1-800-908-6968 and haveto ask Luis. Ok got it. Tanks guys

It's not to bad to replace on your own if you want to try it. It is just takes a little bit of time. At the dealer we charge about two hours. I think I read somewhere here that one guy had done his in about an hour and a half.
A piece of advice to the OP. When you get the actuator fixed, have your dealer turn off the c-best setting that is causing your doors to automatically lock when you put the car in drive. I could be wrong, but I believe that feature is triggering all 4 actuators even if only the driver's door is unlocked and the passenger and back doors are already locked. Because this is a known problem with the 2GS, I try to use the actuators as little as possible.
Unless I need to get into the passenger side of the car or the back seat, I only hit the remote button once to unlock the driver's door. Once in the car, if I want to lock the driver's door, I manually lock the button from the inside. Also, when I exit the car, I manually unlock the car from the inside, open the door, and then manually lock the car before closing the door. What's interesting is that if the headlights are on, whereas you would normally have to hit the lock button on the remote twice in order to turn off the headlights, if you manually lock the driver's door prior to closing the door, the lights go off on the first click of the remote. Anyway, I guess this is a little OCD on my part, but the point is to use the actuators as little as possible because they are prone to break and I don't feel like having to replace them.
