One of the strongest, most high quality, and finish of all rims.

Not to mention, they have a history of making wheels. You can bet you'll find them in many racing cars. They are just damn good wheels. High quality doesn't come in cheap prices

Quality and history, yes. But I will have to completely agree with you, Aristo. 99% of their line look outdated and old-fashioned to me.

BBS Kraftfahrzeugtechnik AG
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from BBS Wheels)
Jump to: navigation, search
BBS Kraftfahrzeugtechnik AG (English: BBS Automotive Technology AG) is a high performance automobile wheel company headquartered in Schiltach, Germany. BBS produces wheels for motosport, OEM, and aftermarket applications. BBS is the OEM wheel supplier to many premium automobile brands such as BMW, Audi, Daimler-Chrysler, Porsche, Ferrari, Maserati, Rolls Royce, Jaguar, Volkswagen and in the past supplied wheels to Subaru. [1] The company is also the largest supplier of wheels for Indy Racing League Series and the main supplier of Formula One teams.[1]

The company employs approximately 1,200 employees worldwide (2007).[2] BBS trades on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (Symbol: BKS3) with a market captialization of €8.15M[3]

[edit] History
BBS Kraftfahrzeugtechnik AG began in 1970 in Schiltach Germany by Heinrich Baumgartner and Klaus Brand as a manufacturing plant for plastic auto body parts. The initials BBS are based on the last names of the two founders and the city in which the company was founded (Baumgartner, Brand, Schiltach). [1]

[edit] Technology
In 1972 BBS pioneered the development of a three-piece racing wheel, a revolution in motosport design. [1] Most recently BBS has engineered the Air Inside Technology (AIT) where hollow chambers are created whithin the wheel structure to compensate for the small air volume in modern ultra-low-profile tyres, reduce unsprung weight, improve handling dynamics, and increase fuel efficiency without sacrificing strength and rigidity. This innovation has earned BBS Kraftfahrzeugtechnik the Automechanika Innovation Award 2006 in the tuning segment. [4]

I picked BBS because I was confident in the quality of their product and appreciate many of their designs. I consider their designs timeless and not trendy. But claiming BBS is "the best looking wheels in the world" is subjective and just an opinion, not a fact. There are some guys on here that know wheel technology very well and could comment about BBS. Seeing BBS on F1, LeMans, and WRC circuits for so long, it was easy for me to go with BBS.

Which is sad. If only people start to buy the real thing instead of cheap knock-offs, BBS would be better off

The German parent company filed bankruptcy but the company in Japan (Washmeir, sp?) that makes most of the wheels is still in business.

BBS has some of the highest quality of any wheel ever made. I personally am not feeling many of their designs that much but looks is a very subjective topic. I do think that the LM's are some of the nicest looking wheels ever made though.

BBS LM's only.. The other styles are 1980's imo, and can be confused with stock Hyundai Sonata wheels....
