Default Kinda Fed Up

I own a 2000 GS400 Platinum Edition and it seems that I am having problems with it left and right. I am wondering if I bought a lemon of a GS.

First problem: Rotors went bad on me at 10k ( didn't drive it crazy)

Second prblem: Vibration from the rotors after it was cut and they tell me that there is nothing wrong . I cam still hear and feel the vibration

Third problem: Now my car does not seem to be as quiet as it use to be. I know that a car cannot be "PERFECT" but now I hear a vibration from the left wheel when I am going around 40 50 mph. I can only hear it when I have the stereo off and the windows up. The sound is killing me. Lexus says that they cannot hear it and I am just imagining it. I think its still the same vibration that I am getting from my brakes rubbing.

What should I do?? I am sick of spending all this money for a car and having problems that the dealer cannot find.

Maybe I should sell it.

I know what your going thru....It's the, I paid too damn much for this car, making payments out the *** for all these problems, feeling. Get use to it. Another reason I'll never by a new car again. Rotors aren't so hard to resurface...Try rebalancing the tire, or turn the radio up just a smidge.

At least you don't own a BMW...I knew a guy who bought a E36 M3 that have a tranny fluid leak and oil leak at 9k miles....Another guy had a 1 yr old 740i where the HVAC has to be completely replaced...Now, don't you think your problems are quite minimal?

Maybe you would let another CL member that is good with the stuff drive it. I am sure they will tell you what is up.

Have a chat with the service manager at your dealership. Be firm, but don't be a jerk - explain your position, not necessarily your individual problems; he may wind up having his best tech ride with you in the car - they can usually hear what you would.

If that doesn't work, call corporate and voice your concerns. Actually, I'd call corporate either way and let them know how you were treated by your first couple of visits, and armed with names. While you are talking with corp., ask them where the closest alternative dealership would be.

Keep us posted.

I have that same problem with my rotors... I can live with it though... If it's really bothering you, then go get new brakes!! Resurfacing them ISN'T GOOD! You shouldn't cut into the brake!! New brakes = NO vibration.... Cheap Fix Resurfacing = More problems!!

I hear the problem with the rotors happens when you sit on the brakes for a long period of time, and they get too hot and warp... Maybe while cruising down a hill or something... So it doesn't really have ANYTHING to do with your driving style.. It has to do with how you brake!!

As far as the other niose, check your tires. I had a similar problem that was fixed by an alignment and balancing!!

Good Luck and don't diss Lexus too much!! They are MILES ahead of BMW and Mercedes as far as service issues!

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not at all happy with the build quality or service on my BMW, but do you really think you're going to make this guy with a troublesome GS feel better by telling him how much worse German cars are? Come on!

I had a nice vibration at 70-75mph and I found that the weight had fallen off one of the wheels.

I just dropped my car off today at another dealer and told them my situation. They were very helpfull and were more polite and courteous to my problem. They also gave me a new IS300 to drive around. Not like the other dealer who gave me a Camry. I hope everything goes well.

Thanks for the input !

Man, that sucks you guys. Are rotor problems common in the GS? I ask because my parents will probably be getting one soon...The rotors on my car are original and have 125,000 miles on them and are as good as new...Hope everything works out...

I guess your pager gets "turned on" when you hit 75mph. I hope you didn't try to give it a cold shower.

I got my car back and everything is fine. They rebalanced my tires and did an alignment and everything is good as new now. I am glad that I went to another dealer and they treated me ALOT better then the dealer I bought my car from.
