Default Mobil 1 extended performance

Have anybody ever used mobil 1 extended performance in their GS3 if so how long did you go until your next oil change. Mobil 1 claims it go up to 15k on one oil change with a warranty.

I've used the Ext Performance on the last Oil Change. I'm gonna try 9 - 10K with it (On 5K right now).

Everytime I change my oil (every 5K), oil almost looks new (Mobile 1 synthetic). I'm waiting to get the 90K service done and will change it out then. I've heard from a mechanic that Oil will lose it's cleaning properties after a period of time, even though it retains it's lubrication abilities. But, who knows?

**EDIT**

Just read up on this here: http://www.carbibles.com/engineoil_bible.html . Pretty interesting information. Bottom line, if you stay in a cold climate, change it regularly. During the summer months, depending on how you drive, shouldn't be that much of an issue. It can go 10K - 15K. But, a good time to do so is after every 5K.

^ Im with you. I just changed mine after 6k miles and it still looked the same as when I poured it in there. I guess your oil change frequency depends on many things.

I notice the extended performance yesterday at Wally world for $29 dollars and the regular mobil 1 for $23 if i can get an oil change for twice as long and only pay $6 dollars more then I'll definitely do that.

I wonder if this correct, that in US oil is changed after 5000 miles (8000 km)? Here in Germany I have a change interval of 15000 km (9300 miles), and most people here would say that these frequent change interval is bad in comparison to other makes which mostly have much longer intervals. Additionally in the US cars don't drive as fast as here.

I used the 7.5k mile one the last time and I had no problems. I rather change my oil every 6 months rather than every 3.

Didn't a lot of the toyota's have some valve problems due to infrequent oil changes? The guy I bot my car from took his 400 to the dealership and they wouldnt put synthic oil in his car. They stated that infrequent oil changes on some of these motors can be bad for the valves. I have read some threads on this type of problem. I use Mobile 5000 and change at 3k miles. I live on a dirt road, so my oil after 3k looks like a$$.
I have had vehicles where I used synthetic and changed the filter every 3k mi and the oil every 6k.

Shawn, depending on the condition of your vehicle, this will give you a indication of how frequent you need to change the oil. Take my car for instance, I drive it probably about 50 miles/ week and I usually change my oil every 3-4 months. What I would recomend is buy the 5 qts. Mobile One synthetic oil from Walmart and use a combination of those 5 quarts to one quarts of Lucas Synthetic Oil additive and you should be good to go. But make sure that your car has been using synthetic oil early on because if your engine has higher milage and you switch to synthetic, the thinner consistency of synthetic oil will cause the oil to seep through the seals and leak.

Newer BMW's use the German Castol Syntec which is black in color when clean instead of yellow. My first scheduled oil change for my X3 is 15k. Very good oil, but not sold in your local autoparts store.. Must be purchased at your local BMW center. For my GS, I use Amsoil fluids throughout the vehicle.. Stays cleaner longer than Mobil 1 from my experience, and the car operates more quiet and smoother than in the past. Just my 5 cents.
