Painting Center Console...
So, the original owner of my car decided that it would be a good idea to install and after market wood dash kit. Overall the kit looks pretty good but I am not happy with the kit around the shifter. I have already popped off the piece that covers the ash tray and the finish underneath was pretty buggered up so I spoke with my body guy today and I am going to paint match the covered areas to match the finish on the shifter gate. It is a matte finish that has a bit of pearl in it. It will be just like stock when it is finished.
Has anyone attempted this before? Are there any other alternatives to painting? I know I have seen a few pictures but I cannot find them in any of my searches.
The areas in red are going to be paint matched to the area that is hatched in.

If it's just sticky with the glue, I would just get some GOO Gone and clean it up, that should bring the color back somewhat. I would also take the ones around the shifter, it looks a little overkill. My $.02 cents
Well, the adhesive used is some pretty nasty stuff. To remove the residue takes most of the factory paint off of the pieces. I am going to remove all of the wood pieces in the red boxes. The ash tray as well as all of the trim around the shifter will be back to factory finish.
