Default Painted and Installed Levoc Shifter

Well I got that nice Levoc shifter, but the chrome just wasn't sitting well with me. It doesn't match anything inthe car. So I decided to paint it Here's how the results turned out... not sure if I like it. I used a color called "Smoke Gray Pearl".. and I also painted the black trim piece that goes around the PRND2L shifter area, to match it. What do you think? I think I might need to use a lighter shade.. I'll keep it the way it is for a while and see if it grows on me.

Also, I didn't like how the back of the shifter said "LEVOC" on it. It just looked kinda gawdy to me. So with lots of layers of primer and lots of sanding.. I got rid of it Tell me what you think..

A better picture in the sun. You can see how it shines a little bit, (the "pearl" part of the paint)...

A picture of the whole interior so you can see how it matches:

The arm rest seriosuly drove me nuts. I wanted to rip it off. I kidn of ended up doing that. basically, you open the arm rest, and on the inside of it there are al these tiny little screws.. you take out all those screws. Then, the last two screws holding it on are impossible to get to.. you basically have to somehow get them out, with the knowledge that they will never go back in. I used an eyeglass repair kit / one of those mini screw driver kits. Using the mini screwdrivers I got the last two screws out. The top of the arm rest then comes off, but the plastic piece that holds the leather part of the arm rest stays attached. So you still have somewhat of an arm rest.. e.g. you still have two parts connected.

You then rip off the leather, and youi use one of those heavy duty staple guns to staple the new leather onto the piece, and then you reattach it to the plastic arm rest hinge still in the car.

Its a PITA, and I broke a lot of things, and lost a lot of those tiny screws. But it looks good

I'm not sure about this.. you may need to check.. but I don't think they make a kit for your year, becuase your car has side air bags.. that are part of the seat.. and you don't want to mess with those.

Good job Suneet on the Levoc/Napolex shifter.

I decided to order one as well because I can't find the time to put in the RX300 one I ordered (I will put it in, but it's involved so its going to have to wait).

I needed something in the meantime, so I picked up the Black/Chrome one.

For anyone that ever runs into this problem. The Lexus shaft has the the shifter stem aligned to the right. The Napolex shifter has the shifter depress button aligned DEAD center.

So to get around this caveat, just apply some pressure and bend the shifter stem more towards the middle of the shifter shaft. Mine kept hitting the right of the Napolex so I took a gander inside and figured it out. Of course, I was beating my mind as to why it didn't glide on perfectly. Maybe I'm the only one.
