Default Do I need a Radio code ?

I need to clean-up the battery poles but no sure if I need a code to bring back the radio. Read the manual throughfully and say nothing about that.
Need to be sure before doing it.

I've replaced a lot of batteries in Lexus vehicle and have not had a problem yet.

The early Lexus cars that had radios that could be protected with security codes had detailed instructions in the owners manuals on how to set the codes. When I had a Lexus with a radio with this feature, I never set the code and I doubt if many others did either.

My memory has faded but I think the earlier Lexus radios with the security code feature have some sort of "Theft deterent" label on the face of the radio. Maybe someone can verify this????

bump to the old thread.

I believe I have pioneer unit 98GS4. I was thinking of pulling the battery to reset ECU. Do I need security code?

You should be fine on that year.

I don't think the Lexus radios ever had a security code. They had the theft deterrent feature, but what that actually meant was that the radio was designed in such a shape and form that it wouldn't fit in any other car besides the same model Lexus. It's not a standard DIN size so it wouldn't fit in any other car. I guess the theif could jack it for himself if he had a GS as well.
