Ahhh. Im just waiting for the weather to get a little warmer at least 45' to get my new windshield put in. A damn M5 kicked a rock up in my face. I was just tring to tag along with my friend and bammm.. lucky for him i have free glass coverage 3 per year. I asked if they would order me a Lexus/Toyota windshield and they said PPG, i said ok whatever its free. Thinking if i don't like it time to try to catch the M5 again. I like to play this game. 2007 M5 is a total beast and his 2003 M5 is plain insane too never can seem to catch up.
Here's the thing. For $300 installed, the PPG is fine. Actually, it's pretty damn good, particularly if you go through more than one windshield a year. However, if you're going to give me PPG, I want one without the waves. My original Toyota glass did not have waves, and the current Lexus glass I have does not have waves.
thanks for the replies guys, I'll have to go check out the kit from autozone or pep boys. I know a guy that did a friend of mines porsche and amg, charged him $75 for both cars, cant even tell they were there anymore.
Next time I need to get the number off of the truck.
Hmm, I actually found that my replacement glass for my SC was better then OEM.
I mean, it's possible that I just got very unlucky and got 2 bad pieces of glass. The first one wasn't so bad. The distortion was limited to the lower right hand corner of the windshield. It was severe, but it was definitely out of the line of sight. It was most noticeable when driving in the left lane of a 3-lane highway and seeing the lane divider through that corner take a dive straight downward. The second glass was a joke. I had Lexus and Acura look at it and they both said it was completely unacceptable. The Lexus glass is perfect. Maybe it's quality control issue.
Co-worker and I were in the company car yesterday and a stone probably the size of a quarter hits the windshield. It was a dump truck that was in front of us dropping stones from it's load for every bump it went over. What I hate are these dump trucks that have the netting or tarp covering their load but most are hardly ever covered firmly. Instead parts of it just flap in the air with the stones flying out too. It's a shame that u are stuck with the damage which most likely can be avoidable by these cement and dump trucks.
