warning ticket - illegal lane change
i got a warning for a quick lane change..just curious if anyone knows if warnings are written down on some computer so that if you get pulled over next time it shows up..and if so, for how long..
thanks
thanks
never got a warning ticket before. I think it'll stay on the computer so the nexttime you get pulled over they won't be so easy on you.
I just either get a full citation or just get off......

ok i was in a hurry when i wrote the post...lemme add to it. well he pulled me over for the unsafe lane change and told me i had no front plate..said he would just gimme a warning for the lane change and just write me a fix it ticket for the front plate..well on the ticket, he wrote:
5202vc- no front plate; warning for unsafe lane change
he didnt write any code # for the warning..maybe its just there for notes? hopefully it doesnt get recorded as a warning..dont want future cops knowin i was warned b4..
thanks

If it was a multi-layer piece of paper you have,
i.e. a carbon copy,
and there is a serial number samped on it somewhere,
chances are it has been recorded.
Can you imagine a DMV not recording a possible revenue stream?
Wait a few days then call your DMV to see if it popped up in their system, and try to get a clarification of teh citation.

Not to worry. The license plate violation, is indeed, a fix it ticket and that is the end of that. The warning he wrote DOES NOT get recorded anywhere (except, of course, on the ticket itself). DMV does not record warnings, only violations of the law that you are charged with.

ceort, i cut off the cop himself..thats why i got the warning -=z. it was night time and i was on my stupid cell phone..im usually 100% on the look out for cops when i drive..always look in rear view mirror etc..but i was so into the stupid phone call and wasnt paying attention -=(. its not just cops i look around for, its mainly to constantly memorize the positions of all the cars around me incase i need to make sudden lane changes, break adruptly, etc etc in case of emergencies such as a car not seeing me xoom by and decides to change lanes into me or something.. (its a habbit cuz i speed alot, and you need the extra edge, to keep the driving safe in my opinion)..so at the same time i look for cops..hehe..well anyways.. so i just turned on my blinker (always use my blinker, do it without thinking), and quickly got right in front of him...it was a very quick lane change and there was only like 5 feet between him and me..wonder what was going through his mind..hehe.
phil, i know the dmv wont record it, but what about the cops records..like u know when they run ur plate and stuff, or ur license, would it show up that i recently had a warning at that point?

No, cops write too many tickets to be concerned about someone getting a warning. Attitude plays a BIG part in whether you get a cite or not. Be aware of that. But, there are some cops that are Adam Henrys and will write their own mothers. If you ever get a cop like that, just keep your mouth shut and take the cite. A knowledgeable traffic cop can find a ton of violations to write you up for. (Cops used to write warnings on the back of the offenders drivers license to let other cops know they got a break)
For your own sake, and the other motorists, get your foot out of it, slow down and do the speed limit (cops usually won't stop you for 5-6 miles over). Finished with lecture.

thanks again.

BTW Phil, what's your Lexus background, or are you here to report back to your brethren still in LE? J/K
Ahh, checking on my credibility, huh? LOL. I bought the first Lexus out, LS 400 in 1990. Now, I am receiving an '02 LX 470 TOMORROW!!!! Can't wait either. Feel like a kid at Christmas. I know it isn't a super fast ride, stylish, cool, and all of that, but "done that, been there". I will settle for a nice luxury SUV on the road.
I don't need to "report back to my brethern", they reported to me, hahaha.
Be of good cheer, and I say again, "Be Careful Out There".
