I am a new owner of a 99 gs300 for about 3 months now. This morning it rained in the bayarea. I was making a right turn from complete stop as usual and there was a beep and the VSC kicked in...it freaked me out for a second...I didn't hear a tire spin or anything...Is it normal? VSC too sensitive?....I wasn't doing any dangerous manuevers. Just wondering if anyone had same experience.

Your car has an open differential. When making a right hand turn it allows the right tire to easily spin. But it shouldn't happen if you were pooching it. But this will happen and the right rear tire probably did loose traction and caused the VSC to kick in.
Do you like manually press it everytime? I remember the last time I turned it off, and restarted the car, it came back on by itself.
I'll try it later on my way home.
It bothered me so much before, but now it's like a habit or a reflex - every time I get in the car I immediately hit this button right after I power the car on.

The only thing that bothers me is the "VSC OFF" light comes on. I even rigged my seatbelt so the light doesn't come on when I don't buckle up.
I have a 99 as well, and mine isn't that sensitive. When I first got the car I through the backend around a turn and it beeped to all hell, so now if I'm going to do it I'll just turn the VSC off right quick.
