Default Another Horror Story

Well here it goes. I'm driving home from having picked my friend so he can practice rollerblading at my house for the next day. I'm at an intersection waiting for the light to change so I can make a left. I see across the intersection that the next 2 vehicles have their turn signals to turn to their left. When the light changes I start turning but the vehicle across the intersection doesn't make the turn and starts coming towards me so I speed up and take the turn a little sharper to avoid the pending accident, luckily the vehicle (which was either a Tahoe or a Suburban) didn't hit me but I ended up hitting a metal drain with my front wheel. I could barely drive the car home because the left front wheel got turned in from the impact. The next morning I had the car towed to a body shop no too far from my house. Later that evening I called them to see if they had a quote for me, almost $1900 to fix everything in the front left suspension. I'm not even sure if that includes painting the front bumper. They said they had to replace practically everything. My mistake was not taking pix the night before because I had taken off the wheel when I got home to see if there was any damage which I obviously couldn't tell since I'm not a mechanic but it didn't look too bad. Another mistake I made was getting the insurance company involved because my deductible is too high to cover the damage. So now I have to wait for an adjuster to come out from Brooklyn to come see the car. I just had installed new front brakes 3 weeks ago, new Tein strut tower bar 2 weeks ago, and a new RMM exhaust a week ago. I just want my car back. And to make it worse, I'm not even friends with the guy I picked up the night I had the accident (another long story).

Of course, hindsight .....

Sometimes it is worth the wait at the intersection

Saga like this helps one to take pause ...

Sorry to hear that. That would remind me to be patient when driving.

man that sucks....I hope your able to get it all fixed without further out of pocket expense. Its times like these that I wish I knew more about our cars, because Im afraid if it were happen to me, I'd get taken for repairs that arent even needed. Good luck with things, and let us know how it turns out

Glad you avoided the collision. Lesson learned about trusting the use of indicators...DONT TRUST...SIDE ON CAUTION.

Yea I usually wait until the cars turn just to make sure but I guess this time I just lucked out for being in a rush. Well I got a final quote today almost $1500 to fix everything up. I could have probably bought everything and replace it with the help of my "mechanic" friend. I got it for cheaper because I told them not to paint the bumper.
