Default CV Joint

I noticed a loud clunk 3 days ago when shifting into reverse coming out of my garage. Today, at the second stop sign out of my neighborhood, when my turn to pull out came, I stepped on the pedal and went - - - nowhere. A loud whirring sound came from underneath my GS! I was able to push my car to the side, tow it into the dealer and wait for the news. Expecting an expensive transmission repair, the call came back that the CV Joint had broken. My dealer didn't even have one in stock because this is so rare. Anyone ever have this?? My GS300 has 118k on it by the way.

Thanks.

I have never heard of an axle on a 2GS do this. How much did they charge you?

I've been with Lexus for over six years, seem some strange stuff. But that is a first. Did they say where or how it broke, shaft or joint?

It's going to be around $850. I even asked if this was covered under a warranty, but it isn't. I guess it's better than a transmission rebuild, but I thought those things were bullet-proof!

Which one broke again? The CV joint and you have to push your car? I thought that only happens to front wheel drive cars. Anyway, I'm not that familiar with LEX.

you must have ran over something that hit your joint for that to happen.
