So I got this email offer from Sewell Lexus for a Navigation DVD 6.1 upgrade. I was wondering are these upgrades worth it? Like what is it upgrading? Is it just points of interests or graphics or streets or what?! There really isnt a clear explanation of what its upgrading. Like I dont want to buy it if it just upgrades the graphics ya know. BTW I am currently running whatever software comes with the 01 GS430. Any help would be appreciated. thanks!

 

Also does anyone know if these updates work on more than just the stock nav? For instance i have an Eclipse avn5435, so will the update work on that or do i have to go through eclipse to get it...

The update is mainly added streets and points of interest, but they do make software tweaks as well. It won't be a major change for the user interface though (I have noticed fixes and color changes for example), the upgrade is mainly about the updated data.


You need to go through Eclipse for that... I've upgraded the Eclipse 2454 unit in my GS to the latest and greatest. There are supposedly significant improvements in the depth in the NYC area.
