I somehow broke the locking mechanism or hinge of the ash tray. Now the ash tray remains open all the time.
I would try to take the center console out and get to the ash tray to figure out what part I broke.

Input and advie will be welcome.

You can pull the whole ashtray assembly out easily. Just open the tray, hold the tray, pull on the right side of the ashtray strait out, then it should come loose. Then close the ashtray and pull out more. Then shift into either N or D, disconnect the harness behind the ashtray, and take the whole thing out.

 

This is a little off subject .. but still related...
I remember seeing a thread on here a while back regarding custom wood trim. Anyone know where that thread is .. or if there is a search function on these boards. =)

I have the same prob with ashtray staying open. I took it out and played with the spring and got it to close, but its not fixed!
Anyone else have this issue?
