i 'm not trying to be a ****,or pick a fight with anyone else on here but thats just the way i think. plus, i don't know if any of you have ever had a WP go, but they have the telltale "weep" that happens day, weeks, sometimes months before they actually stop and all your coolant spills out..therefore, if/when the thing started to drip, i would order the new one..again thanks for the advice/info sorry if i came across to anyone as a ****
Or the bearing could seize and it could chew up your nice new timing belt, but that NEVER happens right ? Then iof course you'd have to pay for the tow from wherever you got stranded to where you are going to wrench on the car ... yadda yadda yadda
A reman WP is $60
A brand new Bosch WP is $110
If you can't afford C-note for maintenance buy american
I am not aware of any factory recommendation to change the water pump and the cam seals at the timing belt interval. I guess I am too lazy to check, but I don't recall reading anything about that in the owner's manual. I can assure you that if a seal is not leaking is it best left undisturbed.
Certainly I would never use a reman pump, and a Bosch pump is not much better. When I need a pump, I'll use a new Lexus one. And I will need a pump when the one I have has a symptom.
So right now I have a pump, seals, and tensioner, and idlers, that have been in the engine for over 90k kilometers. A new t-belt is turning them. Life is good.
