The only time the doors lock automatically is when the car is locked, you unlock it but dont open the door, then it locks them automatically. I dont know of any other way to do that!

there is no such settings for the gs as far as i know.

you can just push the lock button when you get out and close the door,t hen everything is locked

or just use the remote to lock the car once you get out? i am pretty sure the remote works well within 5 ft?

Just think about the first time you park in front of a restaurant and accidently drop your keys in the car while you turn around to get your jacket from the back seat. Then you get out and hear that 'click' and see that sexy black key sitting on the floor of the drivers seat where you forgot to pick them up.

my GS locks itself but only in this sequence

use remote to unlock door
i get in and drive
arrive at destination, turns off ignition and takes out key
open driver door only, get out and close the door
in 1 min or 2, the car will lock itself

dont be using the unlock button inside the car by the windows controls though

My 02 430 locks itself up nice and tight right when the car is put into drive.

As far as self locking after you walk away, I dont know, I am **** and end up locking the thing like 4 times as I walk away (usually with a small tear in my eye)

interesting, maybe it's something for 01+?

all i can say is i am pretty sure there is no cbest settings on that for 98-00. 01+ they have a new computer so they have totally different (and much more choices) setup.

i don't think for 98-00 we have much choices on locking and unlocking of doors from best, which is avaiable on 01+

This works on most of all Lexus and Toyota's and if it doesn't work there is a way to engage it so that if you forget or think you've locked your doors the doors will automatically lock after 1 minute or so.

Pretty sure it is a C-best setting. We had ours changed so it locks at 12 or 18mph or whatever. Then it unlocks when put into park.

Default key fob range

Hold your key against your chin and press.

No one understands why this works either.

It just does.

yeah like rominl said, might be a 01+ only feature in the c-best settings

heres the C-best setting for it
Code:
Wireless Door Lock AUTO LOCK DELAY 30S After the vehicle is unlocked with the transmitter vehicle will lock if a door is
not opened before the specified time (30 or 60 seconds) 30S/60S

Not true, my 99 gs-3 does that, if I leave the car with out closing the door's they close automatically after about 20 seconds. Also my headlights would turn of by them self about 30 seconds after I would turn the car off, but after removing the + cable on my battery to clean the connection the settings got screwd up , I almost drained my battery after leaving the headlights on assuming they would just turn off.
